In Patna, two headmasters and a middleman were arrested on Saturday for their alleged involvement in the recruitment of fake teachers in Samastipur. The arrests were made following an investigation by a four-member committee established by Samastipur DM Yogendra Singh. The arrested individuals are headmasters Dilip Ram from Purushottampur Primary School and Avinash Kumar Tandon from Navtolia Primary School, along with middleman Parvez Alam. They were apprehended in the Town police station area. A significant fraudulent activity was identified at Navtolia Primary School, according to a police source.
After the discovery of the fake recruitment, multiple teachers are now under scrutiny, with 12 reportedly absconding. Police investigations revealed that the fake teachers were appointed in place of legitimate candidates selected through the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) by manipulating the counselling process.
DM Yogendra Singh stated, "Complaints were lodged regarding bogus appointments in the BPSC TRE-2.0. Following the release of the successful candidates list and document verification, the biometric thumbprints of candidates were obtained. However, individuals within the education department utilized the roll numbers and candidate IDs of selected BPSC teacher candidates who failed to take up the position, in order to fraudulently appoint fake teachers."
A four-member committee was established on September 7 to probe the matter, leading to the arrests of the headmasters and the middleman based on the committee's findings. "Ranjana Kumari at Purushottam Primary School has been identified as a fake teacher," mentioned an official from the Town police station. Furthermore, the appointments of teachers Nikhat Parveen and Tanuja Kumari at the same school are now under investigation. The initial discovery of the appointment fraud occurred in this particular school.
